The Dodge Charger SRT8 Bumble Bee is a limited-edition muscle car based on the burliest model in the Charger family, the SRT8. Recalling the Bumble Bee package available on the 1971 Charger, the Charger SRT8 Bumble Bee is decked out with a multitude of visual upgrades inside and out that give it a authentic vintage feel as well as a menacing look.
The Bumble Bee is motivated by the standard issue SRT8's 6.4-liter HEMI V8, which puts out 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The fire-breathing engine is matched with a a paddle-shifter-equipped automatic transmission, helping the car to post sub-five second zero-to-60 times, high 12-second quarter miles and a top speed of 175mph
New for the latest model is a launch-control system that spins the engine to optimal launch rpms, then manages wheelspin once underway for the quickest acceleration possible.
Fuel economy is rated at 14 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
Deceleration is handled by four-piston Brembo calipers and slotted and vented rotors, 14.2-inches up front and 13.8 out back. The brakes get additional help thanks to a new underbody belly pan with integrated brake ducting - resulting in 60-to-zero mph deceleration taking just 120 feet.
The Bumble Bee comes with a full sticker and stripe treatment and can be had in either Stinger Yellow or Pitch Black hues. A front grille with a special 3D helmeted bee logo, fender-mounted "392 HEMI" badges and 20-inch wheels round out the visual changes.
The cabin benefits from the addition of Super Bee logos to the dashboard, front headrests and the software of the Electronic Vehicle Information Center screen, while yellow and silver seat stitching and a new steering wheel round out the changes. Otherwise, it offers the same experience as normal Chargers, which means stretch-out room for passengers and surprisingly high levels of quality and fit and finish throughout.
With so much power and performance on hand, sooner or later someone is bound to take things a little too far, and for such occasions Dodge has equipped the latest Charger with a slew of safety features.
Included in that list are standard front-row reactive head restraints, standard full-length side-curtain air bags, driver's knee airbag and standard front seat-mounted side-thorax air bags.
Also included are adaptive-cruise control with Forward Collision Warning and Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection. the Charger also features three-mode electronic stability control with segment-exclusive Ready Alert Braking and Rain Brake Support safety features.
