2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket
The latest incarnation of the Dodge Challenger has proven to be popular to the masses ever since it was released a few years ago. Integrating classic styling with modern equipment, it exemplifies how a 21st century muscle car must be like.
It proved to be quite a hit that Dodge, together with their SRT team, created a limited edition Challenger model that gives a salute to the original Challenger’s storied past. This is the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket.
History
For those who aren’t familiar with the Challenger’s colorful history, the Yellow Jacket is a yellow show car developed by Dodge in 1969 based on the 1970 model of the Challenger.
Equipped with a 426 Hemi and the Scat Pack performance package, it is one of the more memorable special models in the original Dodge Challenger lineup. And with this new Yellow Jacket, Dodge pays salute to this legend.
Performance
Of course, the first thing that you see in this car is the striking “Stinger Yellow” paint, a salute to the original Yellow Jacket. But if you think that only the looks got upgraded for this model, you have another thing coming. The already menacing Hemi engine was upgraded to produce 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque and with improved transmission, brakes, suspension, and aerodynamic parts, this car is certainly a well rounded performer.
The Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket did proper justice to the legend of the original Yellow Jacket, and is seemingly bound to create a legend of its own soon. To be produced in limited numbers, this car would be released in early 2012.
